West Oaks School opened its third site at Buckingham Villas on Buckingham Road, Headingley, on Thursday 8 September 2022 to 45 pupils.
As we near Christmas and the end of our first term at Headingley Learning, we are celebrating as we now see the last of the Builders, Electricians, Architects, Planners and Engineers finally leave our site, as we truly take ownership of this late Victorian space.
It has been a busy year for us, as we achieved our fourth ‘outstanding’ Ofsted judgment after an inspection in May, opened Headingley learning in September and increased our pupil number to beyond four hundred for the first time in our history.
A particular pleasing feature of our new site is the retention of many of the original features whilst modernising the building to create a special needs school for 120 pupils.
Also, our school grounds are amazing, as are the new play spaces. However, we were not prepared for how many leaves would fall during the Autumn period and our Caretaker has been kept busy!
We will be inviting our neighbours into Headingley Learning in the Spring for a guided tour as we are sure you will be as pleased as we are with the provision.
