Despite its name, Adel IT is rooted in Headingley. The company was founded in 2012 by Chris Gans, who grew up living in all four corners of the area – from St. Chad’s to Woodbine Terrace on the edge of Meanwood, then Burley, and Hyde Park, over a period spanning 45 years. Headingley would always be home.
Chris’s father was an academic, working with computers in the early 60s at the University, and he made the first home computers available. After completing various degree studies and teaching IT, Chris had a career in the industry and worked as head of department for national companies, prior to setting the business up.
Woodbine Terrace
“It was quite apparent more than a decade ago that there was a growing need for computer support in homes in Headingley. Lots of former University staff were rather lost without the Uni IT department for example, and almost everyone was dragged into the fast-moving world of technology. Email has become indispensable, and a number of official forms can only be done online now. Some customers are being forced to use computers for the first time in their 80s! It was clear that people needed a good communicator to help them with their requirements and explain matters in Plain English.”
Finally, Adel IT is based in the heart of Headingley, at HEART, the ideal location for a base. From there, the whole of Leeds and surrounding areas are now covered.
The company covers a comprehensive range of technology products including phones, tablets, and TVs as well as PCs, as they are all now types of computers! As well as supplying equipment, services include repair and maintenance, training and website design.
